Worship & The Arts

Worship is the heart of our community. It’s where we share the Good News of God’s lavish love and are rejuvenated. God calls us to enter the gates with thanksgiving and the courts with praise. We come together every Sunday to answer that call with music, prayer, and song. We blend our inspiring reformed traditions with soul-stirring gospel music to send you out soaring — believing and acting as though your life makes a difference in the world because it does.

Worship begins at 11:00am on Sundays, September through June
10:00am on Sundays in July and August

Music

Music at First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn will change your life. A local journalist, after hearing our award-winning choir sing, dubbed us “The Church of Holy Love!” You will hear a variety of musical styles every Sunday from jazz to pop; from Christian hymns to African American spirituals. We do classical alongside old-time hymns, believing all musical expressions make a joyful noise to God.

Minister of Music, Amy Neuner, welcomes anyone interested to join the choir. Connect with Amy here or show up for rehearsal on Thursdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 9:00am. Thursday rehearsals are twice a month and on hiatus in July and August.

Videos of our choir are available on YouTube.

Communion

We are hosts at God’s communion table and welcome all to the table who desire a relationship with God. We gather to break bread and share cup every first Sunday of the month. Our joyfully interactive celebration reminds every participant that God loves them and will never leave them.

Children & Youth in Worship

Worship at First Church Brooklyn is intergenerational, meaning all ages are welcome to participate. During worship we also offer Kids Church. Childcare is also available for children 4 and under. At First Church Brooklyn we support children and youth in coming to know God, love God, and serve God. For more details see our Children, Youth and Families page.

Youth Choir

Our youth choir welcomes all children to join who can read and have an interest in music.

First Sundays: Intergenerational Worship

At First Church Brooklyn we believe that if children and adults don’t learn to worship together, our children won’t learn to worship at all. To that end, we worship as an intergenerational community on the first Sunday of every month with young people taking on some leadership roles. Thanks to our Worship and the Arts Committee, you might experience drama, dance, puppetry or some other creative element that helps us tell a better good news story. First Sunday Worship is pure joy!

Worship is streamed live over the Internet and can be accessed here. Tune in to listen to the sermon, the music, and all the sweet sounds of worship. Find the weekly bulletin here as well, and join us in the group chat!
